Pierre Post 8 outhits Watertown in 11-6 defeat

Pierre Post eight lost 11-6 in seven innings at Watertown on Monday, despite outhitting Watertown 13 to seven.

 

It was a good day at the plate for Pierre Post eight's Ben Leidholt. Ben went 1-2, drove in one and scored one run. He homered in the first inning.

 

Brody Ries recorded the win for Watertown even though he allowed six runs over six innings. He struck out four, walked two and surrendered 12 hits.

Watertown's Dalton Olson, Eric Gauer, Logan Gabriel and Taylor Stacey combined for four hits and eight RBIs.

Nick Rabern couldn't get it done on the mound for Pierre Post eight, taking a loss. He lasted just two innings, walked three, struck out two, and allowed three runs.

The top of the first saw Pierre Post eight take an early lead, 1-0. A solo blast by Ben started the inning off.

Watertown never surrendered the lead after the second inning, scoring three runs on a groundout by Cole Julius.

Watertown pushed across four runs in both the third inning and the fourth. In the third, Watertown scored when Eric was hit by a pitch, bringing home Trevor Jutting.

Watertown tacked on another four runs in the fourth. The inning got off to a hot start when Taylor homered, plating Trevor. That was followed up by Logan Gabriel's triple, scoring Eric.

After pushing across four runs in the top of the fifth, Pierre Post eight faced just a 11-5 deficit. An RBI single by Alex Gray and a three-run double by Cash Anderson gave Pierre Post eight life. Finally, Brody induced an inning-ending strike out from Bo Atkins.

One run in the top of the sixth helped Pierre Post eight close its deficit to 11-6. An RBI single by Alex sparked Pierre Post eight's rally. Cooper Walton flew out to end the Pierre Post eight threat.
